Whole wheat cake (Eggless) - Choco banana

I have been wanting to make a healthy whole wheat cake for a long time. This time instead of browsing for recipes, thought I will try making something on my own. The cake came out well. It was super moist and fudgey !!! It tasted more or less like brownie except for the banana flavor. When people tasted it, very few could make out that it was made with whole wheat.

Stuffed kulcha - To celebrate my 50 th post!!!

You guys must be wondering why am I celebrating with Kulcha of all things? A cake or a sweet or even a cookie would have been a better choice. But it so happens that making a good tandoori bread is far more difficult. When ever I browse for these tandoori breads, I always find that the recipe calls for either yeast or oven or in most cases both. Best days to make recipes with yeast is warm summer days and worst day to sweat it out in the kitchen with these stuffed bread also happens to be summer.

Lauki kofta

Lauki or bottle gourd is low in calorie and very good for health. Koftas made out of bottle gourds are a big hit at my place!!! Unlike other koftas these are toasted in tawa with very little oil. You can even bake or grill. I usually serve them in a tangy tomato gravy. It might sound like a tedious recipe but it is actually quite simple to make. However, grating the lauki will take time.

Oodles of pure magic - Chocolate pudding

Chocolate desserts are hard to say no to. I feel super guilty after indulging in creamy chocolate desserts. Butter, sugar and to top it all-  whipped cream; my long walks seem to go waste!!! I have always wanted to make low fat version of chocolate desserts without compromising on the taste. That's when I stumbled on to this chocolate pudding recipe. It has no butter, cream or egg.

Pilaf - South Indian Style !!! Thengai pal sadam or coconut milk rice

South Indian style pilaf or thengai pal sadam is one of my favorite. A typical south Indian wedding reception menu is incomplete without this. The rice gets its aroma and flavor from the coconut milk and is usually

Quesadilla - Tex mex special

Sometimes, I regret watching cookery shows especially in the nights when my dinner is roti and some random curry. Simply because I hate going to bed all drooling and dreaming about food. But with Masterchef Australia being aired at 9, I couldn't stop myself from promptly turning it on during my dinner time. Last season, one of the master class was about Mexican dish, quesadillas. After watching that episode I was itching to try it myself. This is my first Mexican dish and I really enjoyed both cooking and eating it.

Quesadillas are sandwiched tortillas brimming with cheese, veggies and almost anything you have handy. It is the best recipe to finish off your left over veggies and beans.

Flour tortilla

Tortilla means little cake in spanish. They are one of the main components of a number of Mexican dishes like quesadilla, burrito, enchiladas etc . It is served in various forms like rolled, layered and even folded. It is very similar to Indian flat breads or roti. It differs only in its preparation which involves a lot of resting time. Tortillas can be made with corn, whole wheat and all purpose flour. This recipe uses all purpose flour.

Fruit and nut cake

No better way to use the over ripe bananas than baking a cake or a bread with them. But I realized the same is applicable with other fruits too. For a couple of days I had to go to Chennai. By the time I returned, all the fruits were over ripe and I had no heart to throw them in to the bin.
